Course Reflections.

The most creative assignment was fun to me was the Photo Anaylsis Paper, which it was interesting because it was creative and how we had to describe masculinity in the picture we had to bring for class and do a project about it. I learned from this assignment is that we can describe masculinity no matter how men are and the type of personality they have. The assignment that I really did not care much about was the research paper number one, which was very difficult to do and it was hard for me to write about and to concentrate and so i never like these assignment. I think blogger was a helpful use for this course, because you barely write in this course and all you write is in a computer which is good and now i learn how to use a blogger. Well i thought we were going to masculinity and femenitiy, but i can see that we did masculinity more instead about women, which i get it but i think we should have done better to do creative writing as like the one we did about the Photo, so i wanted more creative writing instead of doing research papers.

The movie, The Hangover, it was basically about four guys friends, Phil, Doug, Stu and Alan are to Vegas for a  bachelorette party for Doug who is getting married. Stu has to lie to his fiancée that they are to Napa Valley for wine tasting which they were going to Vegas, because Stu's girlfriend is very overprotective. They were getting ready to go out but instead they went to the roof from the hotel and Alan was giving toast which he gave them a drug and ended up hangover and really bad and the hotel was really messy. They figured that Doug was missing and they were helping together to find their fiend Doug. As for the reading, "The Girl Hunt: Urban Nightlife and Performance of Masculinity as Collective Activity," from Grazian's reading explains us that teenagers in today's society are going out more then the adults. Also guys are searching for girls to hang out with and go out to party and drinking with their friends. The connection between the movie and reading which says something about strip clubs and then the movie is going to Vegas and having fun. Well the guys want to have fun in Vegas for Doug and the reading explains us how teenagers goes out every night and want to have fun also. Also the movie the guys also argued and they bonded together throughout movie to find their friend Doug. Also as for the reading, the guys want to go out and find girls to be with.

Sister: Oh my god Natalie, you don't know what happened to me in the dance floor, the guy i danced with just few seconds ago, just kiss me and we were just talking and stuff and he is a really nice guy.
Me: You believe that guy ? kiss is just a kiss, don't tell me you like that guy ? he looks stupid and some weird stranger.
Sister: Yes I believe him, why you say that for ?
Me: Oh my god, you really believe that guy ? you stupid or something or you just drunk like you always do, what if he is a stranger and does something to you, and you are my sister,
Sister: Yes I do I believe him, NO I am not stupid or drunk, like he really likes me and he is cute, tell me not, girl c'mon give me some chance to really meet this guy,

Me: whatever, I don't care, just dance with him the whole night and just have fun, I am not going to stop you from doing something, but don't come up to me saying , oh i shouldn't meet this guy he is stupid and blah blah blah.
Sister: oh my god, why are you being so mean and negative for ?
Me: because I am being negative, because you barely know that stranger and you just meet this guy right on the dance floor, what if this stranger has a girlfriend or something or a kid, you don't know his life story,
Sister: oh my god, I really dont want to argue, lets have fun and enjoy ourseleves and lets go dance it off,
Me:  alright, lets go have fun girl and be careful
Sister: I will, enjoy !
Me: But I am going to tell you the last time, be careful with that dude because you never know what will happen and I am just going to tell you the truth, but whatever happens just happens.
Me: Alrighyt I will gosh, just enjoy !

Coltrane's reading, fathers are becoming in their children's lives. As the reading was saying that, back then, fathers took more care of their children as women, because women was working and had to do stuff that was needed for the family. But in today's society I both, well I am trying to say that fathers and women we will always be their for the children. Also in today's society, fathers are becoming more close with their children and being with them in everyday life.

Williams reading, men will always have the higher positions as women. Well they though that men would be to feminine to be working as feminine jobs. As the reading is that saying male were against by women because they had women professions and they thought it was not meant for them. Zinn's reading, is talking about that Chicano men are considered by ' Macho Men', which they controlled everything from the house and their families. So basically they controlled everything around them and it became for advanced for everyone. Also the Chicano fathers considered being more important with their children and also to give them positive influences in their child. In the country, Puerto Rico, Cuban, Mexican American and etc. have the urge to have the stress dominance, aggressiveness,, physical powers and other masculine traits. In pg. 28, I see that, " Davidson and Gordon suggest the following social conditions affect the development of gender roles in ethnic groups : one: the position of the group in the stratification, two: the existence of an ethnic community, and three: the degree of self identification with the minority group. Also Chicanos are overly strong with sex typed in terms of masculine identity.

The reading "All Men Are Not Created Equal: Asian Men in U.S. History' by Yen Le Espiritu , is basically saying that Asian men did everything instead of the woman which the Asian men had to support the family but the men had to cook for the family or the women would also. When WW2 started they had to put the Asian men on concentrated camps and which it was nearly thousand of people which the most were the men and half the women. The Asian men were considered to the laundry, domestic service and food preparation which they called them as "feminized". So the men considered to do everything for the family instead the mom to support them which they called men as females.

Who's the Man?

The article, "The Male Myth" by Paul Theroux and "The Black Male: Searching Beyond Stereotypes" by Manning Marable. They are equally masculine but Paul's reaction to his writing is saying that men are not masculine enough to play sports and do other things that are known for. In Manning's writing is saying that back then men had to work everyday to support their family but then black and white men were segarated and didnt get along. Both articles has somewhat compare aand contrasts because in Paul's writing he thought that men was worthless and couldnt do nothing in life which its not true because men has the ablitiy to be strong and intellectual and they are masculine enough to do anything. In Manning's writing is saying alot of masculine because back then men worked so hard and everyday to support each other and they were the first ones to give them the right to vote. Evern though they though that black males were rapists and as for black women they thought white men also were rapists which is was equally.
